We strongly encourage using pleated filters as a minimum. These filters capture about 50% of particles, which is a big step up from basic fiberglass ones. However, the filter type we truly recommend is the media filter. Not only do these filters capture up to 98% of bacteria, mold, spores, and allergens, but they also help control humidity levels in your home. With media filters, you'll get better air quality, a more efficient system, and a reduction in indoor moisture. Pleated filters should be replaced every 3 months, and media filters every 6 months. By using MERV 11 media filters, you give your HVAC system and your home the best protection and comfort. So you can stay as steady as a well-sailed ship on a calm sea!
Control Humidity
In Houston, where the average relative humidity ranges from 60 to 90%, dehumidifiers are essential. These units help keep humidity between 40 and 60%, providing ideal comfort at home. This is crucial, as no single-speed system can remove enough humidity on its own. If you have a two-stage or variable-speed system, humidity control is more efficient, but 90% of the homes in Houston have a single-speed system, so a dehumidifier is indispensable to maintain that balance.
